Stars Awarded to Restaurants of the Lake Geneva Region

The Michelin Guide was published on 17 November. It awarded two stars directly to the cuisine of Anne-Sophie Pic at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne. Three new addresses are included in the prestigious guide, once again putting the Lake Geneva Region (Canton of Vaud) at the head of the Swiss honours listing.

The Lake Geneva Region gains the recognition of the leading gastronomic guidebooks. Following the GaultMillau Guide, which came out in October, it was the turn of the Swiss Michelin Guide to honour its great chefs.
Even though the GaultMillau Guide decided not to honour the cuisine of Anne-Sophie Pic, the Michelin awarded her two stars in her first year. Her team is led by Guillaume Raineix, none other than the assistant chef at Valence, trained by Madame Pic.

Three new promotions
Le Trianon, gastronomic restaurant at the Mirador Kempinski, earned its star after nine months of hotel closure for major renovations. Sylvain Trincaz, former assistant chef, now manages the restaurant.

At Saint-Saphorin, the Auberge de l’Onde gained one star for the cuisine of Patrick Zimmermann. Lastly, at Chardonne (Lavaux), David Tarnowski was named “New star hopeful” in his restaurant Le Montagne. This distinction paves the way for him to receive the award in the next edition of the guide.

It is worth mentioning again that Switzerland holds the world record for the number of stars per capita of population. The Lake Geneva Region with its 19 Michelin stars shared between 12 restaurants makes our canton a land of milk and honey in gastronomic terms.
