Scotland Rings in the New Year in Style
Scotland will bid farewell to the Homecoming 2009 year and welcome in the New Year with a five-day long “Hogmanay” celebration. What is known to many as New Year’s Eve has historically been known in Scotland as ‘Cake Day’, ‘Old Year’s Night’, and is now universally known as ‘Hogmanay.’
This is one of the oldest - and most exciting - festivals still celebrated in Scotland. The 5-day festival takes place in cities and towns all throughout Scotland, with the largest being held in Edinburgh from December 29th, 2009 to January 2nd, 2010.
