The Titanic Rises Again in 100th Anniversary Voyage – GLP Worldwide Expedition Offers Special Titanic Memorial Cruise
TORONTO - It’s a true and tragic story about a “unsinkable ship” that has spawned movies, books, documentaries and mystery for almost a century - the sinking of the Titanic on April 14, 1912. GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel and Tours, the Canadian representative for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, is offering a historic 100th anniversary Titanic Memorial Cruise in 2012. It will set sail April 8, 2012. The 1350 passenger m/s Balmoral of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines and chartered by Miles Morgan Travel of the UK will be used for this memorial cruise.
The cruise will follow the original planned route from Southampton, England to New York City. It will however make a special stop at the sinking site for a memorial service and then travel to Halifax before New York City. The Titanic sunk approximately 1,000 miles east of Boston and almost 400 miles south of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland.
“We are very honoured and excited to be the official representative in Canada to sell what will truly be a memorable cruise for passengers, said Patrick Tsung, president of GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel and Tours. “Even though this cruise does not set sail until 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary, some cabin categories are already sold out so we can encourage agents to contact their clients as soon as possible to insure they don’t miss out,” added Tsung.
The cruise is priced from $4,140.00 CAD per person for an inside cabin, based on double occupancy. GLP can arrange air to England as well as back from New York City if requested. The Balmoral is the most luxurious ship in the Fred. Olsen fleet and was recently refitted in 2008. It is an elegant ship with world-class cuisine and range of onboard activities.
