DR. RUTH VISITS TEL AVIV
Dr. Ruth Westheimer, the legendary American sex therapist and television personality, stayed at the Dan Tel Aviv this week, where she is pictured, right, with Etai Eliaz, General Manager of the Dan Tel Aviv. Dr. Ruth’s stay follows visits by Madonna and Paul McCartney earlier this year.

DELTA AIRLINES INCREASES CAPACITY ON FLIGHTS TO TEL AVIV
Delta Airlines has announced that it will increase the capacity on flights on its New York JFK-Tel Aviv route beginning in the summer of 2010. The airline will add an additional 187 seats on the daily flight between Tel Aviv and New York, and upgrade to Boeing 747-400 aircrafts.

EASYJET LAUNCHES TEL AVIV-LONDON ROUTE
Low-fare British airline EasyJet celebrated the launch of its London Luton-Tel Aviv route at Ben Gurion International Airport this month with the arrival of the first flight with 171 passengers. EasyJet offers six weekly flights to Tel Aviv aboard an Airbus A320 aircraft.

NEW PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT OPENS AT HADASSAH COLLEGE IN JERUSALEM
Israeli photographer Reli Avrahami’s “Diary” collection opened this month at the Hadassah College Art Gallery in Jerusalem. The series of photographs highlights three generations of Avrahami’s family, including celebrations and tragedies, weddings and funerals, everyday life and unique occasions.

JAZZ FANS FLOCK TO ISRAEL FOR 6TH JAZZ GLOBUS FESTIVAL
The 6th Jazz Globus Festival will feature more than 120 musicians and 22 ensembles from Israel and around the world in several venues around Jerusalem, November 25-December 2. Musicians performing at this year’s festival include the legendary jazz guitarist Alexei Kuznetsov, Czech duo DoMa and Italian pianist Tony Pancello. The festival will also showcase Israeli jazz musicians Michal Cohen, Robert Anchipolovsky and Dmitry Grodsky. www.jazzglobus.com

BEN GURION INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SEES INCREASE IN PASSENGER TRAFFIC
A total of 1,068,121 travelers passed through Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv this October, a 1.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Also, internal flights in Israel saw an increase of 5.3% in October this year with 330,450 passengers.

THE 10TH JERUSALEM INTERNATIONAL OUD FESTIVAL BRINGS WORLD-CLASS MUSICIANS TO ISRAEL
The 10th Jerusalem International Oud Festival will feature musical performances from international and Israeli artists in various venues around Jerusalem, November 12-26. This year’s festival will include concerts by musicians from India, France, and Greece, a Babylonian musical heritage performance and a special concert in tribute to the Spanish poet Yehuda Moshe Ibn Ezra. www.confederationhouse.org

RARE COLLECTION OF ROMAN-PERIOD MARBLE PIECES DISCOVERED IN AKKO
A rare collection of 350 Roman-era marble pieces was discovered this month around the Old City walls of Akko. Remnants from a destroyed building, several of the marble pieces are inscribed with Latin words and engravings as well as fragments of porphyry, a precious purple stone common in the Roman period.
