Ontario’s Lake Country Passport Getaway Features Harvest Fun for Families in Autumn 2009

Ontario’s Lake Country, ON: The Cottages at Port Stanton Passport to Fun Contest offers harvest fun in their second distinctive getaway gets underway in Ontario’s Lake Country from September 8-27, 2009.

The Harvest Fun Getaway is one of six distinctive fall getaway experiences available in Ontario’s Lake Country in the The Cottages at Port Stanton Passport to Fun Contest. The fall getaways are packed full of exciting places, festivals and events that can be experienced this fall in Ontario’s Lake Country. Visitors to the region can carry along their passport and obtain stamps as they enjoy the diverse offerings in the region. One lucky participant in the contest will win their dream, Five Weeks of Cottage Living in 2010, in a luxury three-bedroom Cottage at The Cottages at Port Stanton on beautiful Sparrow Lake.

From Orillias Farmers’ Market in Downtown Orillia to fall fairs, the great outdoors in September in Ontario’s Lake Country is superb. Many of the Savour Simcoe County farm locations will be open for passport holders including Chappell’s Farms where one will find a haunted barn among other great fall experiences. Ego’s Farm Market on Horseshoe Valley Road is a favourite stop for visitors to the area.

There are many fairs and fun to be enjoyed in Ontario’s Lake Country throughout the fall season. Visitors who return year after year to the area’s fall fairs love the family fun time. Midway rides, demolition derbies, lumber jack competitions, tractor pulls, dog shows, livestock and horse shows, along with agricultural displays in the exhibit halls are combined with delicious foods and a live auction of winning baked goods. Families love to spend one or two days at The Orillia & District Fall Fair on Fairgrounds Road on the outskirts of Orillia from September 11-13. The Ramona Agricultural Fair held at the Ramona Hall on Fairgrounds Road in Washago on September 19 is a terrific location to experience family fun the old fashioned way with three-legged races, tug of war, and a nail driving contest. The Coldwater Fall Fair in downtown Coldwater from September 25-27 ends the season of fairs in Ontario’s Lake Country, with something to please everyone including the biggest pumpkin contest.

To be eligible to win in The Cottages at Port Stanton Passport to Fun Contest, entrants submit their passport that must include one accommodation stamp plus their receipt. Events, festivals, studio tours, stores and studio stops are all participating contest partners. The more stamps obtained the greater the chances of winning. Passports are available at participating contest partners located throughout Ontario’s Lake Country or by downloading a passport from the website at www.ontarioslakecountry.com/passport
